Margin Services began with founder Martin Hobbs and his wife Ginette Hobbs, specialising in electrical spares and lighting components for restoring, repairing and creating light fittings. The name Margin comes from the first three characters of each of their names.

Margin Services Ltd is a family run business with roots in East Preston and a shop front in Rustington, West Sussex.

Margin Services is a family run business and was founded in 2001, starting off in a small local shop in a village called East Preston.
As the years went on the company became more successful, leading Spares2you to move to a larger warehouse unit at our current location in Rustington.
After moving in 2005 the business really took off, with more options for holding branded stock including Karcher and VAX. Those brands now take up a large amount of space and continue to grow alongside the Lampspares parts and accessories.
We started to see the demand for lamp fittings and all the accessories that go with them, so we added these to the Spares2you website. As this became busier, we decided to offer lamp parts on their own site and, along with guides and information, started Lampspares.
We have also seen the popularity in lights in jars and, after building nearly 10,000 jar lights for Superdry high street retail stores, decided to start Jarlights.co.uk for custom made jar lights.
History
Margin Services Timeline
The first Margin Services shop opened in Station Parade, East Preston. Known locally for electrical spares such as batteries and light bulbs, the business began to build a local customer base. Charlotte Adfield, the oldest daughter of the founders, also joined the business.
Margin Services moved online, making ordering more convenient and helping the business reach more customers.
Spares2you was created specifically for domestic appliance spares, with its own website for the appliance spares customers needed.
The business expanded its online operation and stockholding by purchasing a larger unit.
After purchasing the unit, the East Preston shop closed and the business moved into the new premises. This was also the year Margin Electrical ended, leaving Margin Services as the main focus.
Katie Neil-Smith joined the business, later becoming a stakeholder and Financial Director. Online orders continued to grow, and Lampspares was created to specialise in lighting components and lamp restoration parts.
Richard Hobbs joined the business, bringing electrical and technical experience. He became a stakeholder and Technical Director, improving the online side of both Spares2you and Lampspares.
Margin Services remained a reputable local business. Spares2you became a popular stockist for domestic appliance brands such as Karcher, W4 and Dyson, while Lampspares became one of the UKs largest stockists for lighting components.
